What is TOEFL?

TOEFL Module Formats

The TOEFL Reading section evaluates your ability to read and understand academic texts commonly found in university environments.
- The section contains passages followed by questions that assess comprehension, vocabulary, inference, and detail recognition.
- Passages are based on subjects such as science, history, arts, and social studies.
- Question formats include factual information, sentence insertion, negative factual information, and summary questions.

- Note-taking skills are highly important as recordings are played only once.

The Listening section generally lasts around 36 minutes and contains multiple lectures and conversations.
